McCook, NE – 95 Miles

July 10, 2010

Today was the first day that I didn’t ride for personal reasons. I’ll spare you by leaving out the details, but can tell you about the rest of the day. I rode with the crew today, helping them mark turns for the cyclists. This was the job I did all summer in 2002, so I had a bit of experience doing it. I was a bit sad to not bike, but made the most out of my day by cheering on the other cyclists as they made their way into the humidity of Nebraska. I did convince the crew guy I was with to drive a few miles out of the way to get a picture by the Kansas sign, which wouldn’t have been possible had I ridden today, so I guess there was a little bit of luck there!

We’re staying at the YMCA in McCook tonight, but couldn’t get a sponsored dinner, so Push America had to buy us all dinner. We do our best to avoid that, but sometimes have no choice. I’m hoping tomorrow will be a better day for me, and hope to be back on the bike. I’ll let you know how it goes!
